Nigerians are deeply religious.

One common habit most Nigerian have is to go to church on sunday.Between 8am and noon all the streets in Nigeria are unclustered, empty, calm, quiet and peaceful;.everyone is worshipping in church. The traffic rush erupts from noon and we go back to our routine. Has anything changed in us between 8am and noon? As we hear curses being hurled shamelessly and adroitly by bad drivers even with the kids in the car. There is no restraint.
Are we religious or just church goers?
Try taking a poll of the number of churches vs homes in a place like Port Harcourt, you will be amazed by the labyrinth of churches about the city and I worry that the most basic call to love simply eludes our dead consciences.
So what are really preaching? Wear the best clothes to church but remain naked inside or are we good at lip service like our senate members and politicians?
Why is love such a difficult thing? I have more questions than answers. I am trying to remove the layers of confusion regarding the incongruity between the number of churches and the level of decadence in our society for some answers.
My dear, please is there a way you can send this to our community leaders, parents and youth leaders?
ReplyDeleteWe need answers from them.
