The Imo State Governor marked his 2-years Anniversary in office by decamping from his party APGA to APC, during a Freedom Rally yesterday at the Hereos Square, Owerri, Imo State. He said his joining APC was to ensure that his people continued to benefit from the dividends of democracy.Okorocha added that APC would bring the state closer to the “federal eye”.
Okorocha said the PDP has failed the people for the 12 years of democracy, adding that the entire Ndigbo are now for the APC.
“When the great and mighty said no you stood behind me; by this singular gesture power has returned to the people,” he said, referring to the battle he fought against the PDP before becoming governor.
He said, following the latest development, it is only a matter of time before the APC take over Aso Rock from the PDP.
In his remarks, Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola described the APC as a “great train of change.” According to him, “We have set about a course irrevocable committed to giving power back to the people.”
The battle to wrestle power from the PDP at the center come 2015 is getting interesting by the day. The ruling party is suffering some major internal crisis and, this is exactly what the opposition is praying for as it is to their benefit.
As at the last count, another 13 governors including some who are against the continuation of President Goodluck Jonathan in office beyond 2015, have secretly joined the APC.
Rochas, you don come again.
