Women's handbags are crawling with more bacteria than toilets. Women's handbags are among the grossest things people own. In fact, a new study shows that purses contain more bacteria than toilets, and that one in five handbags carry enough germs to pose a health risk. Not surprisingly, all the random stuff inside our purses gets infected with gnarly bacteria too — the most microbe-crawling item was found to be hand cream, which is slathered with more bacteria than the seat to your average commode. The findings come after the same researchers proved that kitchens contain dangerously high levels of fecal coliform.
