Visafone and Stanbic IBTC Sacks Staff
Visafone Telecom has sacked close to 100 of its staff and Stanbic IBTC Bank equally asked about 200 of their staff to quit, cutting across top management to lower cadre staff. Just spoke one of their affected staff and she's still quite in a state.
There is some unease in the banking sector right now, with a lot of speculations about some banks that will be right sizing and downsizing their staff which has become the norm in the past few years all in a bid to cut cost according to some sources, especially this time of the year.
This trend is quite worrisome, and some banks now employ graduates as temporary or contract staff who are not entitled to some perks that come with being a permanent staff, plus lower salary.
Hungry graduates are quick to jump at any offer so longer as they are employed. For banks and other companies it's all about who posts the most outrageous profits
