Associated Airlines Plane crash miraculously has some survivors.
The ill- fated Associated Airlines plane which nose dived after take off and burst into flames this morning reportedly had 6 survivors while 14 people died from the crash according to CNN while the local media states 16 people perished and 4 survived.. The Akure bound airplane from Lagos, carrying the remains of late former Ondo State Governor and Ex Aviation Minister,Olusegun Agagu and 20 passengers were involved in the crash. His remains was being flown to his hometown Okitipupa for his burial and was accompanied by some members of his family.
The casket carrying Agagu's corpse was found intact in the rubble of the plane and all efforts to open it proved abortive.
Spokesman for the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Supo Atobatele, added that the engine of the jet had failed on takeoff and it crash-landed and burst into flames.
Aviation Ministry spokesman, Joe Obi, added that the plane nose-dived into a building in the area: "The plane couldn't lift properly so it just came down." The charter flight took off at about 09:30 from the domestic terminal at Lagos Murtala Mohammed International Airport.
Officials said the plane crashed on to open land within the airport complex close to a fuel storage a minute after take-off.
The plane's full manifest has not yet been obtained but the black boxes have been retrieved from the debris.The survivors have been taken to the hospital.
The management of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has released the names of some survivors and dead persons:
1. Agagu Feyi - Survivor
2. Akintunde Taiwo - Survivor
3. Akintunde Akeem - Survivor
4. Akinsanya Femi - Survivor
5. Unknown male - Survivor
6. Chijioke Duru - Dead
7. Unknown male adult - Dead
