'Louis Vuitton's prices are just too extreme'- Kanye West

 

Kanye West has spoken out against the high cost of luxury goods and the latest fashion house to spark Kanye West‘s ire is Louis Vuitton, which West says he would no longer partner with if given the chance. The former “Louis Vuitton Don” (his words) cites the French label’s exorbitant prices as the reason why he would not entertain future design collaborations with them. “The prices are just too extreme,” he told Power 106 radio host Big Boy. “And I don’t want to use my message to have kids saving up that much, you know, to be part of what the ideas are. You know, that’s the problem to me with luxury.”
West last collaborated on a line of sneakers with the French leather goods brand in 2009. The designs ranged in price from $840 to $1,140.

He recently launched a co-opted collection with French casual brand A.P.C., which included a $120 plain white T-shirt and a $280 hoodie. The limited-edition line sold out within a day of its release.

West told Big Boy that while he doesn’t ‘totally agree with what H&M and Zara does,’ he does appreciate how ‘they were able to break that idea that creativity, that these things you really want to have [doesn't need to] cost a million dollars.’

Prices that aren’t extreme to Kanye: $1,625-$6,000 for a pair of Kanye West x Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, $280 for a plain cotton hoodie, and $1,548 for a blazer.
