Governor Rochas Okorocha Declares 17 Days Holiday For Imo Civil Servants

Gov-Rochas-okorocha
To ensure that workers have time to enjoy their Christmas and New Year celebrations, Imo State Governor, Chief  Rochas Okorocha, has approved 17 work-free days for civil servants in the state.
The governor made this public Wednesday, while hosting all the workers to a dinner tagged: “My Worker, My Worker” at Heroes Square, along Imo Concorde Hotel Road, Owerri, adding that from December 20, through January 5, 2014, all workers would observe public holidays in the state.
While advising them to utilise the period to their advantage, he also announced the restoration of “Overtime allowance” to junior workers in the state civil service with effect from January, 2014.
The holiday had been suspended on assumption duty by the governor in 2011.
The governor, who had announced N12,000 gift to each of the workers in the state, and N10,000 to each federal civil servant, also disclosed that the state government would honour the two past Head of Service, who retired during his time, Evans Uzokwe and Mrs. Nkechi Onumajulu, for their hard work.

Responding, the Head of Service, Mr. Calistus Ekenze, said the governor had demonstrated kindness to workers, stating the resolve of workers in the state to reciprocate by demonstrating more hardwork.
I wonder where the money for the gift to those under the employment of the state will come from.
