Imo State Govt. shuts down Banks in the state.

Imo State Government early this morning sealed off some banks citing non payment of some levies and taxes. The affected banks were shut down and other banks joined them as a show of solidarity.

The Government claims that the outstanding levies that are yet to be paid are running in hundreds of millions and decided to shutdown the activities of the banks.

The capital city, Owerri is presently like a ghost town and business activities in the city have been crippled.
