Tributes to Paul Walker at the scene of the crash |
Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker survived Saturday's super car crash - only to be burned alive one minute later when the vehicle exploded in flames, it was revealed today.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Wednesday that Walker, 40, died from the 'combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries.'
The ruling indicates that the actor was severely injured, but still alive after the collision. He died only after the car caught fire - which came up to 60 seconds after the $500,000 Porsche Carrera GT smashed into a tree and a light post.
Walker's friend Roger Rodas, who was driving, died on impact.
The LA coroner revealed the results of an autopsy on the actor, who was killed in a car crash along with a friend.
The driver of the Porsche Carrera GT, Roger Rodas, died of multiple traumatic injuries, the coroner said.
The coroner ruled that both deaths were accidents and said the injuries occurred when the car struck a fixed object.
It comes as video taken from a nearby building emerged, showing smoke from the initial crash and then later a large explosion that lights up the sky.

The studio said: "At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise."
More than half the movie has reportedly been made and it was slated for release on July 11, 2014.
Walker's publicist said he had been a passenger in the Porsche when it smashed into a lamp post and tree before bursting into flames.
The families of both men gave authorities dental records to provide formal identification of the bodies.
Accident investigators are trying to work out what happened in the moments leading up to Saturday's tragedy in Santa Clarita, California, about 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
But their enquiries have been hindered by the crowds of fans that have continued to flock to the crash site.
Investigators do not believe Mr Rodas and Walker had been racing another car, but said they had been speeding on a street with a 45mph limit, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's department.

Police have warned fans not to perform stunts on the stretch of road where Walker, who starred in five of the six released Fast & Furious films, and Mr Rodas, 38, were killed.
One person was apparently seen drifting, an illegal technique in which the driver intentionally oversteers, causing the rear wheels to skid and making the car slide sideways.
Before the crash, the pair had been at a charity fundraiser event at Mr Rodas' car shop and later left, saying they were going on a brief drive - which turned out to be fatal.
Too handsome to be gone and so soon to be gone. Chai. what a huge loss
