Ellen DeGenerous surprises wife with rare $160,000 car

So many celebs have been giving out cars as gifts. The latest is Ellen DeGeneres. She is known for her generosity, but even she managed to outdo herself with a recent gift to her wife Portia de Rossi.
In a section of her talk show titled Celebrity Christmas Stories, the 55-year-old comedian shared a  story of how she managed to surprise her leading lady of six years with a $160,000 keepsake.
'I'm excited to share this story,' said Ellen to her audience. 'This year, I wanted to surprise Portia with her gift, and normally it give it away in some kind of way.'

 
'I got her a car. That was easy. But I had to hide it in the attic...which was not easy. It was a car she really, really wanted and was obsessed with this car. It's pretty rare. Here it is: It's a Toyota Corrola,' joked the Oscar host.
'So there is a car called The Defender, and there aren't a lot of them, and every time she see's one, she says "I love that truck. I love that it is so cool." But they are hard to find,' said the host.
'I found one in Texas. I had it trucked in and I parked it in a shopping area I knew we were going to go shopping in later that day and had the bow on it. So we were walking and I knew she would notice it, so I filmed it with my phone.'
She didn't think it was for her until she turned around and saw I was holding the keys,' revealed Ellen. 'This is the moment where she realized it wasn't just a cool car, but HER cool car.'Ellen played the audience a short clip of her and Portia walking through a parking lot as The Defender catches the eye of the 40-year-old actress.
'What about that car. Did you get me that for Christmas?' said the Arrested Development star was the iPhone video plays.
'That one?' says Ellen, as the happy couple approach the parked vehicle. 'It's cool...very cool.'
'It's ridiculous,' says Portia as she examines the olive green Land Rover vehicle. 

As Portia turns around in the video, she pauses in awe as she is presented with the keys.
'Are you kidding,' she giggles. 'I...I was joking. Are you kidding me?'
Both Portia and the audience laugh in delight as Ellen once again proves herself the trickster queen of daytime TV.
This isn't the first time that Ellen has given her lady love lavish presents. In 2008 when the duo got engaged, Ellen surprised the Aussie actress with a marquis-cut diamond Neil Lane ring set with large pink diamonds.
The couple have been dating since 2004 and were married in August 2008 in Beverly Hills.
