President Gooodluck Jonathan Better Than All The Presidents Before Him.

To claim that GEJ has not done better than all his predecessors in several areas amounts to cutting off your nose to spite your face and onus probandi. Having said that, the fact that he hasn't yet scratched the surface of things that have to be done is an indictment of not just the Presidents before him but all of us as Nigerians. I propound the principles of ‪#‎CollectiveLeadership‬ and the creation of "Oasis of Excellence" in our individual spheres of influence. When all of us focus on creating these Oasis of Excellence and practice collective leadership, its only then that we will and can have the moral high ground to hold our leaders responsible and accountable. Remember that it is followers like me and you that become leaders, not little green men from Mars. The people we describe today as monsters emerged from our midst. Do you think they changed overnight? Of course not. Our leaders; political, religious and social, reflect our society, me and you. Our problem is not GEJ, is not Buhari, not that of Jagabon the Lion of Bourdilon or the garrulous Rotimi Amaechi, its a problem of the led, of me and you.
One of the blog readers expressed the opinion above. Do you agree with him? If not, why?

  2. A critical look at Nigeria's past presidents and their tenures in office confirms the statement above. They all didn't do much.

  3. How come we find this rubbish acceptable? If you are the CEO of a company and you mismanage it, you are chucked out or jailed or both. GEJ's responsibility is much larger than mine because he is the president!!! As long as we make excuses for mediocrity, we will have useless leaders like him and justify their non-performance.

  4. I agree that Jonathan's presidency is the result of what the society currently is. However, comparing him with Past Leaders gives credence to the fact that the older generation were better than we now are. A generation that justles for position without an understanding of its core responbilities. David

  6. Some valid points Mr/Madam writer. The issue of governance/leadership is beyond #collectiveleadership as you mentioned. In the first place you and I didn't vote these folks in even if we voted, our votes didn't count. From the smallest political office to the highest is seen as some personal actualisation with the help of godfathers; you can call it mafia or cabal, whatever. Therefore, leaders are not answerable to the populace and if they are not answerable to us, how can collective leadership work? The big question is 'Do we earnestly want a change?' Everyone says YES to this question but my candid answer is NO. Why NO? The ordinary Nigerian is weak, greedy and hopeful! Everyone one has this ambition and thought that it will get to their turn to embezzle and loot state treasury. Its become a turn by turn thing to the point that leadership is zoned. Geographic origin of our leaders shouldn't be our priority as a nation; do I really care where my president comes from...all I need is PERFORMANCE. Zoning is a great avenue for corruption and zero performance. Let's tell ourselves the truth, say no to tribal, social and religious sentiments in politics. Also as individuals let's become more responsible in our little place of authority and thrive towards excellence, in that manner change can come. I didn't vote Jonathan, had my reason. The only issue I have always had against Jonathan is that of non-performance and am sorry to say that like his predecessors Jonathan has failed Nigerians once again.
