Dem Dey Talk ee-oh

"Dem dey talk ee-oh
My people are us-e-less!
My people are sens-i-less!
My people lack discipline!”
In recent times pictures like this have been making the rounds on the internet (gleefully shared mostly by Nigerians) ostensibly to show that GEJ is President over an ‘animal kingdom’.
Okay, I get it. The people sharing these pictures, being Nigerians, are the lowest on the animal kingdom pecking order, maybe chicken or probably guinea fowls, orangutans or even earthworms.
In a society where people lionize and deify all their leaders, be it social, religious or political. Where Christian faithful’s refer to their pastors as “Mummy” or “Daddy”, where Management staff (male and female) of a big Bank where known to carry the handbag of their CEO, where obsequiousness is part of our society and in most cultures people still prostrate or kneel to greet their elders, who is fooling who?
I never want anyone to carry my bag for me, never any of my colleagues, and none of my bosses has ever expected me to carry their bag for them. But every day we encounter people who dash to pick up your bag and sometimes appear offended when you politely turn them down. We see people who curtsy to hand over documents to us (female) and politely use both hands when handing over the documents (male). Even the British have managed to retain the curtsy and the bow with a genuflection. So if you have issues with bag carrying, I think you should focus on the fact that it is a military personnel that is the 'bag carrier'. So all ye animals great and small, the fact that you have access to the internet should not negate that you need to think and put in context before you post, especially when you are insulting yourself when you think your are insulting the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. At least, in the animal kingdom he will be the Lion, and you are most likely breakfast.

So abeg
“Which kind talk be dat- ee-oh?
Na craze talk be dat ee-oh
Na animal talk be dat ee-oh
Na animal talk be dat ee-oh“

Abeg second base o jare!
