Nigerian journalist Ahmed Salkida (based in Dubai), who recently visited Nigeria to negotiate with Boko Haram, has denied claims that Abubakar Shekau is dead.
Cameroonian authorities two days ago released a photo of a dead man they identified as Abubakar Shekau.The dead man was later identified as one Bashir Mohammed, leader of the Islamist sect’s Uye camp. Nigerian security officials have also maintained for a long time that Shekau was killed by some of his own disaffected lieutenants in an internal rivalry for control of the terrorist organization. However, according to Mr. Salkida who took to Twitter some hours ago, Abubakar Shekau is alive and well.
