The late Army general, an ex-director in Dangote Group of Companies, reportedly passed away early in the hours of January 2, in Abuja. Many are still in shock over his sudden death, as he was reported to be hale and hearty until the early hours of that fateful day. The Kogi State-born General was a Director of Dangote Flour Mills as well as Chairman of the Board of NMTL, a subsidiary of the Dangote Group. He relinquished the post to Didi Ndiomu in October, 2012. He also served as Chairman of Overseas Agency Nigeria Limited (OAN) and was also a Director of Bureau Veritas Nigeria, in addition to several other Board appointments.
He was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1969 and held various military positions, including Directing Staff, Commandant, School of Ammunition, Ojo; Commandant of the Central Ammunition Depot, Kaduna; Military Assistant to the Chief of General Staff, Presidency, Dodan Barracks, Lagos and Principal Staff Officer, Presidency, State House, Abuja. He obtained a diploma from the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, UK.
The late Brigadier was involved in a lot of humanitarian gestures in his lifetimes. He was founder and chairman of Uniqconsult, where he worked with various state governments to send Nigerian students to different universities abroad on a subsidised scheme.
Society Happenings also learnt that he would be buried in his home town, Isanlu, Kogi State, on January 17, after a service of songs in Abuja on January 14.
