According to abc news, a 12-year-old girl allegedly hatched a plan to kill her mother for taking away her iPhone. On both attempts, the girl tried to poison her mother with bleach.
Boulder County Sheriff's Office Cmdr. Heidi Prentup says the first attempt occurred on March 2, when the girl poured bleach into her mother's breakfast smoothie. The mother noticed the odor and thought her daughter had cleaned the glass but not rinsed it fully.
The mother was left feeling ill.
On the second alleged attempt, the girl is accused of pouring the bleach into a water carafe in the mother's bedroom. This time, the mother noticed the smell in her water and confronted the daughter.
"This is when she learned her daughter had developed the plan to kill her for taking away her iPhone," Prentup said.
Deputies began to investigate the allegations after being dispatched to Boulder Community Hospital for the reported assault.
The 12-year-old is in custody for two counts of attempted first-degree murder at the Boulder County Juvenile Center. The district attorney will determine if the child faces adult or juvenile charges
