Nanny Arrested After She Was Caught on Camera Burning a 3-Year-Old Girl.

Nanny Arrested After She Was Caught on Camera Burning Child

A Connecticut mother was shocked when she came home last month to discover her 3-year-old daughter had been allegedly burned and beaten.

Lidia Quilligana, the young girl's babysitter, was charged with first-degree assault after police reviewed graphic footage from a nanny cam that showed Quilligana holding the child's hands against a hot stove, the Associated Press reports.

"In the footage, you can see the absolute fear and pain from the trauma in [the little girl's] facial expressions," writes Danbury Police Officer Thomas Geanuracos in a report obtained by Hearst Connecticut Media Group

He goes on to write that Quilligana, 31, pulled down the little girl's pants and began spanking her.

"At one point, I observed Quilligana pick [the child] up by the throat with two hands and toss her to the ground," he adds. The mother, who is not being identified, told police that the babysitter told her that her daughter had burned herself when she wasn't watching.

But when the mom reviewed the nanny cam footage, she witnessed "Lidia hitting my daughter, force-feeding her something ... and then pushing my daughter's hands on the stove burner to burn her," she said in a statement to police.

Quilligana was taken into custody after the March 27 incident. She has not entered a plea and is being held on $1 million bail.
