Governor of Enugu state,Sullivan Chime impeached?

According to reports,lawmakers in Enugu state began impeachment proceedings against Governor Sullivan Chime this morning.He is accused of high handedness and corrupt enrichment among other things.

The State Government has claimed that  the  alleged plot to remove the Governor is false.

The Governor’s spokesman, Chukwudi Achife, said the Speaker of Enugu state House of Assembly,Eugene Odoh, has been removed and a new Speaker elected.

Sources say that the Governor had asked the state House of Assembly to approve funds for a secretariat project, but members of the House of Assembly  turned down his request.

Their refusal to approve the N11billion  requested by Chime allegedly led to the power play between members of the House of Assembly and the state government.

The Governor then allegedly induced some members of the assembly with some money to impeach the House Speaker, Eugene Odoh.
