But now, Jada Pinkett-Smith, 43, has created room for yet more speculation over their 17-year-marriage telling Howard Stern on Wednesday 'I'm not his watcher'.
Speaking on Howard's SiriusXM show she went as far as to say she's advised her children against getting married, saying: 'Heck yeah, don't do it.'
Howard brought up an old quote from Jada speaking to Oprah Winfrey that if Will wanted to go with another woman then he could go ahead 'as long as he could look at himself in the mirror'.
At the time, this prompted many to assume Jada had confessed to the pair having an open marriage.
Howard suggested however, that the actress meant more in a psychological sense, and Jada replied: 'Look I'm not here to be anybody's watcher. I'm not his watcher. He's a grown man.'
She also admitted that she thought she was too young when she got married to Will aged 25, but put their success down to him being a 'gangster partner'.
'Here's what I trust. The man that Will is, is a man of integrity. So he's got all the freedom in the world.
'So as long as Will can look at himself in the mirror and be OK? I'm good.'
Howard then interrupted saying he wouldn't risk losing a woman like Jada, with the actress replying: 'I don't think Will would either'.
When pressed about their bedroom secrets, Jada even teased: 'I look dressing up and playing different parts in public, so you can imagine what I'm like in private.'
She then admitted that they're open about who Will is crushing on lately.
'You have to,' she said, adding: 'Just because your man is attracted to another woman doesn't mean he doesn't love you. It doesn't mean he's going to act on it.'
There have been reports recently saying Will has been unfaithful and that the marriage has been rocky.
But Jada defended her husband and their relationship saying: 'He's a man of great integrity.'
Jada is fresh off the season finale of Gotham, where she plays Fish Mooney, a hotheaded mob boss.
It's unclear whether she'll return for the show's second season. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter she discussed the possibility:
'You never know. We'll see what happens.'
The star added: 'Fish Mooney really inspired me to want to act again. For a minute there, I really didn't know.'
Up next for Jada is a starring role in the male stripper sequel, Magic Mike XXL.
With so many shirtless men as costars, Stern asked Smith if she was aroused while on set.
Jada responded: 'I was, I was.'
With a July 1 release, Jada stars in the film alongside Magic Mike vets Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello.
Though little has been released about her character, from the preview it appears that Smith plays some sort of promoter or club owner for the stripper gang.
In the trailer, Jada's character says: 'It's not bro time, it's show time. Are you guys ready?'
