The prolonged absence of the wife of Anambra state’s Governor Willie Obiano from public functions in the state has led to widespread rumours in the state that the First Lady may have died in the United States of America during plastic surgery, thereby forcing the governor to react.
An online publication had reportedly circulated the information that suggested that the First Lady, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano passed on during the week while undergoing cosmetic surgery in the US.
However, the state governor, speaking through his special assistant on media, Mr Emeka Ozumba, in Awka on Sunday said the First Lady is hale and hearty.
Ozumba, in his statement, described the publication as the handiwork of enemies who he similarly referred to as “an immoral opposition.”
“This poisonous lie is a new low in opposition politics in Anambra State and one that must be condemned by anyone who has the slightest respect for the right to life and the dignity of the human person.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano is alive and in the best physical, psychological and emotional condition possible. She has been observing her annual vacation in the United States and has not had any reason to spend a night in the hospital since she arrived the USA,” Ozumba said.
The governor’s spokesman further urged the general public to ignore the rumour while emphasizing that “the power of life and death resides with the Almighty God and no matter what may be the cruel designs of man against his kind, life only comes to an end when it pleases God.”
