Halle Berry & Olivier Martinez Divorcing After Two Years of Marriage: Read Their Statement...

Halle Berry has filed for divorce from her husband, Olivier Martinez, after two years of marriage. The couple announced their split in a joint statement on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

"It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce," they told TMZ. "We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus for what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life, and we hope that you respect our, and most importantly our children's privacy, as we go through this difficult period."

According to TMZ, the Oscar-winning actress cited irreconcilable differences in her divorce documents.Berry, 49, and the French actor, 49, first met on the set of Dark Tide in 2010, and secretly got engaged in 2011.They share a 2-year-old son, Maceo. Berry is also mom to her 6-year-old daughter, Nahla, whom she shares with her ex Gabriel Aubry.

This will be the third divorce for Berry, who was previously married to baseball player David Justice from 1993 to 1997, and to R&B singer Eric Benet from 2001 to 2005. While she said she would never get married again in the interim, Berry had a change of heart about marrying

It was just a matter of time after rumors swirled last year that the couple, both 49, were living separate lives — and that Olivier was dating a French woman.

Halle and Olivier will share custody of their son, Maceo Martinez, 2. Halle has a 8-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry, with former underwear model Gabriel Aubry.

According to gossip tabloid TMZ, Halle filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences and “personality differences.” The couple have a prenup so money is not an issue.

Things went downhill for Halle and Olivier after his temper erupted and he hit a photographer at LAX with Maceo’s baby carseat. The victim filed a lawsuit against Martinez last week.

The incident was the breaking point for Halle — and not rumors of his rampant cheating.

"Who knew? I swore marriage off, right?" she told Extra in April 2012. "Never say never, people!"
