Senior Vatican priest sacked immediately after coming out as gay.

A high-ranking Vatican priest who came out as gay the day before a meeting of the world's bishops was immediately sacked.
Krzysztof Charamsa opened up about his sexuality in newspaper interviews in Italy and Poland.
He said he was happy and proud to be a gay priest and that he was in love with his boyfriend Eduard, whom he posed for pictures alongside.

But Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi denied he was sacked because of his sexuality, claiming it was in fact due to the timing of his announcement.
He said: "The decision to make such a pointed statement on the eve of the opening of the synod appears very serious and irresponsible, since it aims to subject the synod assembly to undue media pressure."

Despite his dismissal, Mr Charamsa remains a priest, although Mr Lombardi hinted that his superiors could take further action.
Mr Charmsa initially planned a press conference in front of the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith's office, but moved it to central Rome after the Vatican action.

Mr Charamsa told reporters that the timing of his disclosure was not related to the bishops meeting on the family, but said he hoped it might add "a Christian voice" to the synod that is expected to address how the Church can better minister to the homosexual faithful.
"I came out," he said.
"This is a very personal, difficult and tough decision in the Catholic Church's homophobic world."

Mr Charamsa told the Polish daily Gazeta Wyborcza that he was motivated to make his sexual orientation public by hate mail that he received after publicly criticising a right-wing Polish priest, who is strongly homophobic in the media.
He told Gazeta Wyborcza: "I have to say who I am. I am a gay priest. I am a happy and proud gay priest," he told Gazeta Wyborcza.

The priest, who had held a post at the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith since 2003, later held a news conference with his partner and gay activists at a restaurant in Rome
The priest said in the interviews that he knew his decision to come out would mean he would had to leave his position, which he described as 'his life'

  1. No surprise here cos the end times are here: the devil is in the church trying to seduce and lure the weak from God. I say good for him coming out rather being a hypocrite and using the same hand he used to f**k his male lover and give communion. God save and forgive him for he knows not what he is doing.Sad

  2. Very sad. He shouldn't wait to be sacked, he should just resign and follow his lover.

  3. this priest is in torment and needs deliverance. I think the church should make provision for deliverance for such priests and nuns rather than sacking them

  4. They look like a pair of silly teenagers, truly pathetic. But I really want to why become a priest if you don't really believe in the scripture or know you can't like by the rules of celibacy? There are beliefs & laws that have been in place for thousands of years. Ones selfish and evil desires are not going to change that doctrine. So it's simple, live the life you choose, that's between you and God. But respect the laws put in place by God and leave this job whose job description you can't fulfill. Don't demand it changes for you. Your 40 / 50 years living as a married gay man has got nothing on the 5-6000 years of doctrine being upheld before your arrival.
