Congrats to Chimamanda Adichie!


Highly acclaimed writer, Chimamanda Adichie has just bagged another important recognition. Chimamanda’s novel, Half of A Yellow Sun was voted the best novel written by a woman in the last decade, by fans of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)’s Woman’s Hour programme.
Half of A Yellow Sun was in contest with other popular releases like Rose Tremain’s The Road Home; The Song of Achilles written by Madeline Miller; Home written by Marilyne Robinson; The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver; Ali Smith’s How to be both; On Beauty written by Zadie Smith; May we be forgiven by A. M. Homes; A Girl is a Half-formed Thing by Eimear McBride; and The Tiger’s Wife by Tea Obreht.

By popular vote, however, Half of A Yellow Sun, which is set in eastern Nigeria at a time the country was engulfed in a civil war, emerged the Woman’s Hour Best of the Best.
