Last year, popular American comedian Steve Harvey became the subject of the media after he crowned the wrong 2015 Miss Universe in what has since been described as the epic fail of the century.
The 58-year-old Tv host, who refused to grant interviews since the incident, is finally speaking up about the mistake which many still find unforgivable. In the latest episode of his daytime talk show The Steve Harvey show, the comedian got emotional and teary-eyed as he recounted how he had sleepless nights after the pageant; he had also received death threats against his family. He also revealed why he didn’t grant any interviews after the drama: “I didn’t do any interviews until I could talk to the two people who were affected the most, Pia and Ariadna. No matter how tough it was for me, I can’t imagine how it was for these two women. This finally gives me a chance to have a moment of closure.” he stated
Steve will be speaking to Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, who he initially crowned as the winner and the reigning Miss Universe, Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach on his show during a special pre-taped two-part series. The episode will air on NBC on Monday, January 18.
It was an honest deadly mistake. He has to live with it, that can't be easy.
