Cruise Ship Passenger jumps overboard while on honeymoon.

Reco Scott

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a Decatur man who may have intentionally jumped off a Carnival cruise ship in the Bahamas early Friday.
32-year-old Reco Scott and his children’s mother had just renewed their 1-year marriage vows and were on their honeymoon when Scott apparently jumped overboard.
A Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson said Scott “was observed jumping from a cabin balcony” on the ship’s 9th deck about 4:53 a.m. Friday.
The ship was about 10 miles northwest of the Berry Islands in the Bahamas when he jumped, spokeswoman Jennifer De La Cruz said in a statement obtained by the AJC.com.
The cruise ship’s crew launched a search boat and notified the Coast Guard, which sent a helicopter to help look for Scott’s body.
De La Cruz said the ship departed from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Fla. on Thursday for a 3-day cruise.
“The ship’s command immediately turned the vessel around and began search procedures,” she said.
The ship was due back in port on Sunday.
“We extend our thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” De La Cruz said.
Scott’s family asked for prayers on Facebook.com on Friday.
“Lord I get on [Facebook] only to find out my cousin Reco Scott is missing, Lord I ask prayer for “the family and his wife and children!!” wrote Christany Miller.
