Nigerians not informed that Mrs Jonathan was in coma for seven days
First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan
The First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan, spent three months undergoing treatment in a German hospital in 2012. This information was not made public.Mrs. Jonathan, who was on admission at the Horst Schmidt Klinik in Germany, however, did not disclose her ailment.
She said many of her close aides and associates actually
thought she was dead and leaked the information to the public, adding
that some even went as far as selling some of her belongings.
Her media aide, Ayo Oshinlu, insisted then that she only travelled
abroad to rest, while the Special Adviser to the president on Media and
Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, said he was unaware of the first lady’s
condition.
The decision to fly her abroad followed her deteriorating health
condition in Abuja after she was initially treated for “food poisoning” for four days.
It is gradually becoming a norm for ailing top government officials, functionaries and lately, Governors in Nigeria to suppress facts relating to their health from the public thereby giving room for wild speculations and rumours as to the true status of their condition.
I think that Nigerians deserve to be fully abreast of these things.
What is your take on this?
They probably think we are all stupid and don't have a right to know the true position of anything.
ReplyDeleteLeaders indeed.
