English translation
It has happened
Something grave has happened
Chinua Achebe has gone home
A  great writer/A renowned writer,
A person of great wisdom,a person with a kind heart
Who shall we boast of?
Who are we going to tell the world about?
Who will guide us?
Death has dealt a hard blow.
My eyes well up with tears.
Chinua Achebe rest in peace,
It shall be well with you.
Rest in peace.
