Can't Women Be Hot and Geniuses All at Once?

Lena Dunham has been outspoken about her commitment to showing real women's bodies on Girls. Which is one of the greatest things about her–she's super vocal about that fact that women of all body types are amazing and gorgeous.

In a recent interview with Playboy, she talked about her own decidedly not-a-size-zero bod, explaining why she's glad she doesn't have the figure of a Victoria's Secret model.

"I don't want to go through life wondering if people are talking to me because I have a big rack," she said. "Not being the babest person in the world creates a nice barrier."

Why do women have to be one thing or another—as in pretty and dumb or not hot and smart (or interesting, or some other brainy quality)? Because there are a bunch of babes who are totally intelligent. And vice versa..cough.

What irks me about this "either" or thing is that we never hear people talk about guys this way. A smart, smokin' hot, successful guy is considered "the whole package," while a woman with all those qualities gets questioned: As in, does she actually have brains or did she get where she is because of her looks? Which is so not cool.

But, I gotta ask you: Do you think there's prejudice against being pretty?:-)
