What's in a name?

Is there something attached in a name? Is there power in a name?

I hear comments like ''Am definitely not going to call my child that''
People attribute a lot of meaning to a child's name, some Igbo names have their peculiar characteristics. Emeka and Ebuka are said to be usually stubborn and difficult people but end up being rich, Nnamdi must be a good lover and a care free sort of person, Ngozi is so over-rated I won't even touch it :-), Ifunanya is someone that will be riddled with heart break, Okunlola means sea never dries, Ayobami is joy has come to me.I stand to be corrected though :-)

The power of a name and its value has long been immortalized in prose, poetry, and religious ceremony. Everyone recognizes himself or herself by name.
The question is:  does a name influence a person's character?

If your name is Queen or Princess, I guess it's only fair, you would expect to rule a kingdom some day or sail into the sunset with your glass slipper in the arms of your Prince.

People believe a child will act out and grow to be whatever is attached to the name given at birth.

Are there some names that are a no-no or is it all hogwash?
