Emeka Ike, who is a philanthropist, decided to give back to the poor masses in the area where he grew up – Ogudu Ori-Oke Ojota Lagos state, by hosting a football tournament. He titled the tournament Desert Football Tournament and was organized by Unity Football Association (UFA)
Emeka Ike disclosed that he hosted the tournament to help young promising footballers discover their talents, and thereby reduce the crime rate in Nigeria. He also revealed that Tottenham and Togolese striker, Emmanuel Adebayo, agreed to assist the outstanding players at the football tournament, adding that some major clubs in Europe would send scouts to the tournament.
The football tournament posters claimed that veteran footballer Kanu Nwankwo and the Minister of Youth & Sport, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi would be the special guests of honor.
Each soccer team had to pay the sum of N3000 for registration and a total of 16 teams participated.
The A-list actor, Emeka Ike promised to reward the winners with the sum of N500,000 naira, the first runners up with N100,000; and the 3rd place winners with N75,000.

Emeka Ike has failed to honor his promises six months  after the competition and none of the winning teams have received their prizes. They claim that Emeka Ike has totally ignored their frequent calls and text messages after he issued a bank cheque to the guys.
