From Egypt, to Tunisia. Algeria to Brazil, and Turkey. People are taking to the streets to get their leaders to stop, hear and listen to them.
Brazil's Congress has rejected a
proposed constitutional amendment that was a key grievance of protesters who
took to streets across the country.
On Tuesday, the measure was defeated by 430 votes to nine.
Congress also voted to use all the royalties from newly discovered oil fields for education and health.
Government of the people, by the people....... Power to the people.... What do you think?
In a lot of countries political leaders either listen to the people or quit when they realize they are a failure to governance, or loose honorably like Ms Gillard( The Australian PM) & her rival, Mr Rudd, everywhere it seems, except in Africa. The ongoing fiasco between Governor Amaechi, Governor Jang and The Presidency is laughable and has turned them into a spectacle of ridicule. The prevalent adage you hear in every corner is -''It's well''. Till when? Are we waiting for God or another leader who wore no shoes? Which way for Naija? What about us? Maybe we want to inherit the earth and afraid to die. Our Government and leaders have failed us consistently and have no idea what democracy means, while the governed don't understand their right and power- we lack the most basic things in this country..no electricity(witches are responsible, they say), water, security, healthcare, education. Nothing works but we have adapted and will keep adjusting no matter what is thrown at us, we keep ''suffering and smiling''. What can I say? ''It's well''.#foodforthought.
Hunger and the fear of dying while 'fighting' for our rights won't let Nigerians fight to change our country for the better.
