Police are hunting a 'brainless' thief who stole a 12-year-old's mobile phone and then posted a picture of himself on social media.
The victim's mother was then alerted as she received a notification on her phone. The thief also disclosed online that he lived in south London.
The theft took place outside Debden underground station in Essex on Tuesday, when the robber approached the boy and asked him for the time. When he took his phone out to check, the thief swiped it and ran away.
Essex Police Investigating Officer, Dc James Smith, said: “Our appeal is to this man’s friends and family to contact us or to advise him to hand himself in. We really can’t believe that this man has incriminated himself.”
The man is described as white and in his late teens or early 20s, and is thought to be around 5ft 5ins tall with a pointy jaw and chin with stubble and facial spots.
Only a brainless theif will steal a phone let alone from a 12yr old.
