Nigeria wins FIFA U-17 World Cup. Up Eaglets!
The Eaglets made Nigeria & Africa proud with a 3-0 win over Mexico and emerged the winners and favorites of the FIFA U-17 World Cup.Nigeria Golden Eaglets became the most successful team in FIFA U-17 World Cup history with their 3-0 win over holders Mexico at the Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Anyone in UAE who had the pleasure to see them will tell you that this Nigerian team were the best on offer. Even a few of the Mexican fans were mumbling “yes, yes, yes” when the final whistle went off. Nigeria's Iheanacho went on to win the Silver boot with 6 goals in the tournament and the golden ball for the most valuable player of the tournament. The golden glove award was won by the Nigerian shot stopper - Dele Alampasu. Musa Muhammed was giving the Mexicans fits with his rampaging runs up the right side. He pinned the opponents back at every opportunity. Captain Muhammed and Kelechi Iheanacho were both dangerous on the pitch.
The Golden Eaglets, under their current handlers, have played a total of 49 matches; won 44, drew 4 and only lost once. They scored a total of 221 goals and conceded just 53.
Congrats to the Eaglets!
