South African media say a son of President Jacob Zuma is being investigated for culpable homicide, or negligent killing, after his luxury car collided with a minibus taxi on Feb. 1, killing one woman.
Brig. Neville Malila, a provincial police spokesman, said Sunday that one person died and two were injured in a road accident on Feb. 1. But he declined to reveal the names of the drivers who were involved, pending an investigation of a possible case of culpable homicide.
South Africa's Sunday Times newspaper has reported that Zuma's son, Duduzane, was driving a Porsche when the accident happened in Sandton, an affluent area of Johannesburg.
The political opposition alleges that police gave Zuma's son preferential treatment at the crash site and is demanding an investigation of their conduct.
