Tragedy struck at the Enugu Campus of the University of Nigeria, (UNEC) over weekend as a lecturer at the institution’s Law Faculty, Dr Bede Opata committed suicide.The reason behind the suicide is still unclear. The 38-year old Opata was employed in University of Nigeria Nsukka in 2011 and holds a Doctorate Degree in Law.
The deceased had taken his life in his apartment within the town on Saturday night but his body was discovered on Sunday.
The University staff and students are still reeling from the shock of his death.
The lecturer who was until his death, the son of a former Commissioner in the old Anambra state, Chief Cletus Opata hailed from Nsukka area of Enugu state.
