Teacher arrested for allowing students to have sex in the classroom

A DeKalb County teacher is in custody after accusations that he allowed middle school students to have sex in the classroom.

Officials with the DeKalb County School District say Quentin Wright, a math teacher and coach at The Champion School in Stone Mountain, was taken into custody on Tuesday.

FOX 5 News obtained a copy of the criminal arrest warrant which states Wright did “willfully encourage a minor under the age of 17 to commit the offense of statutory rape." The warrant also states that Wright would “arrange with minor children times when the classroom would be empty and the storage closet would be available, would provide condoms, and would keep others from entering the classroom."

The investigation began after a mother said she found text messages between her 14-year-old son and a teacher.

“We take that very seriously. We're going to be cooperating with the DA's office and the prosecution of these alleged crimes,” said DeKalb County Schools spokesperson Quinn Hudson.

The school district says it has pulled the teacher out of the classroom and has recommended his firing.
