They're marriage is one of the strongest in Hollywood and is the stuff of relationship goals.
Despite balancing mega successful careers and parenting two darling daughters, Blake Lively, 29, has revealed the secret to her marriage with Ryan Reynolds, 40, is their unwavering friendship - which formed years before a romance sparked.
The American beauty and the Canadian funnyman originally met while working on 2010's superhero flick Green Lantern, both walking away from the film with a friend for life, unaware of what was to happen a year later.
Candidly opening up about her other half - who she married in 2012 - Blake explained to Glamour magazine that their friendship manage to the lay the foundations for a loving relationship and has been vital in overcoming conflict.
And while a girl's girl, she insisted that unlike previous romances she now goes to Ryan for advice and a shoulder to cry rather than her girlfriends.
On her husband Ryan’s infamous tweets:
“He may as well work for the National Enquirer. When he says “my daughter”, he’s never ever talking about her. Everything is a completely made-up scenario. He’ll run them by me sometimes just to make me laugh. But, oh, I’m so in love with him when he writes that stuff. I mean, I’m in love with him most of the time, but especially with that.”
Recently, Blake has been pictured supporting Ryan on set of the second cinematic installment of Deadpool, sharing a smooch of him on a Vancouver rooftop while in costume earlier this month.
On conflicts in their marriage:
“In other relationships, if something came up, I would call my girlfriends, or my sister, and say, ‘Hey, this is what he did – what should I do?’ Whereas with him, we were friends for two years before we were ever dating. And I treat him like my girlfriend. I’m like, ‘Hey, this happened. It upset me. This is how I feel. What do I do?’ And he does the same for me. He treats me like his best buddy.”On the message she wants her daughters to receive from her:
“Sarah Silverman does a great bit that I’m going to butcher: ‘Stop telling little girls that they can do anything. They already believe they can do anything. It opens the door for questions.’ We’re all born feeling perfect until somebody tells us we’re not. So there’s nothing I can teach my daughter [James]. She already has all of it. The only thing I can do is protect what she already feels.”#glamourmagazine
