'She doesn't deserve forgiveness' Acid attack victim Naomi Oni’s anger at friend who left her horrifically scarred
Naomi Oni said the bitter former friend who attacked her with acid does not deserve forgiveness. The 25-year-old said she felt evil Mary Konye was not jailed for long enough when she was sentenced to 12 years for carrying out the horror attack.
But now just over five years later Naomi has taken the "moral stand" to "forgive and move on". Naomi, then 20, was walking from work in Stratford, East London when she had the corrosive liquid thrown at her face. Bitter pal Konye disguised herself in an Islamic veil before she pounced in December 2012. Konye, believed to be jealous of Naomi's clear skin, even sent supportive messages to her in the hours after the sickening assault before police tracked her down.
I can't imagine the scars this trauma left her with both physically and emotionally but she can't heal completely without forgiveness.
