Niger Deputy Governor escapes death in car crash, two people reported dead

Niger State Deputy Governor, Honourable Ahmed Musa Ibeto, escaped death on Saturday, after his convoy was involved in a motor accident along Minna-Kagara road in the state.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened at about 10.30am and claimed the lives of two people. Ibeto was on his way to Kagara, the headquarters of Rafi Local Government Area, to be a guest at the closing ceremony of the state Qu’anic recitation competition.

The Deputy Governor’s vehicle suddenly applies its brake to avoid a pothole and two motorcycle riders who were travelling behind them hit the car and somersaulted, before landing on the bonnet of Ibeto’s escort vehicle. One of them died on the spot, while the other was confirmed dead at the hospital he was rushed to.
Mr. Pius Edobor, the state command Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) also confirmed the incident.
