The Obamas' Special Delivery
A Christmas Tree Arrives by Horse-Drawn Carriage. The holiday season just got a little merrier at the White House.
First lady Michelle Obama, along with daughters Malia, 15, and Sasha, 12, received a special delivery on Friday morning: an 18.5 ft. Christmas tree.
With dogs Sunny and Bo on hand, the dressed-up family – sans the President – had smiles on their faces as a horse-drawn carriage pulled up to the North Portico of the executive mansion with its precious cargo.
"This is the best part of the holiday season when our tree comes," the first lady said, urging her daughters to check it out and noting that it was Sunny's first Christmas tree arrival.
"It looks good. It looks beautiful," she added as she leaned in to sniff the pine scent.
The festive staple will be placed in the Blue Room and is one of four Christmas trees that will be displayed in the White House during the holidays.
"This year we're going to decorate it with photos of military homecomings," the first lady told Ladies Home Journal.
The towering tree was presented by Christopher Botek and Kyra Yurko of the Christmas Spring Tree Farm in Leighton, Pa., and John and Leslie Wyckoff of Wyckoff's Christmas Tree Farm in Belvidere, N.J.
