A
Nigerian Medical Doctor based in Texas, United States few days ago made
scathing statements online mocking the Igbos of Nigeria who lost their lives in
the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
This
was obtained from screenshots taken from his facebook page where he made
inciting statements condemning the Igbos for demanding the position of the
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. He also made some other hateful
remarks where he alleged that the Igbos are cursed and that they should be sent
back to Onitsha.
In
one post he is quoted as saying, "...You see how they are being
slaughtered in South Africa, that's what is going to happen to them in
Lagos...". He is yet to react to the backlash he is getting from concerned
Nigerians on social media who have roundly condemned his hateful stance. Below
is a screenshot of the conversation obtained from Facebook.
Dr.
Adeniran Ariyo is a cardiologist in Dallas, Texas and is affiliated with Dallas
Regional Medical Center. He received his medical degree from University of
Ibadan and has been in practice for 27 years. He is one of 10 doctors at Dallas
Regional Medical Center who specialize in Cardiovascular Diseases. Following
general outcry on social media, Dr Ariyo has gone into hiding. He has removed
all his pictures on Facebook and deleted his post.
A few days ago, a Change.org petition was filed against him, asking the Texas medical board to investigate him and for his medical license to be revoked. , states:
This is important because the massacre or extermination of any ethnic group is against UN law and of course the laws of United States. No ethnic group should ever have to be massacred due to hate for any reason whatsoever since there are legally accepted ways of dealing and settling differences. The world can not allow this to happen.”
So far, the petition has 4,618 supporters. Some of the reasons given by the supporters for signing is as follows;

This hateful comments are really shocking from an immigrant doctor who signed the Hippocratic oath!
Igbos in Texas beware and don't let him treat you.
ReplyDeleteSomeone in another man's country, that should be worrying about racism. Kai, a learned man for that matter.
ReplyDeleteForgive him for the sake of Christ. Two wrongs can't make a right.
ReplyDeleteThis hateful comments are really shocking from an immigrant doctor
DeleteYou can't forgive someone, who hasn't asked for forgiveness.
DeleteNa wa o! what is this going on all over the world for heaven sake! What is it about a tribe hating another tribe? Gosh! Why can't we relate with one another based on the person & not tribe! I wish I am from the space right now! This is just sickening! A medical doctor that ought to be humane? A public figure? May God forgive us all & heal the world!
ReplyDeleteWhat's going in this world? My God!
DeleteI' getting out of this loveless world..
DeleteSending you e - hugs! @ogbonna.its well
Delete"Ogbonna plz do not hurt urself o!There is evil and good in this world- they co-exist.
DeleteIgbos the masters at revenge
ReplyDeleteAbeg na! U wanna quench flame or ignite it???
DeleteDon't mind anon 10.17am. There will always be people like that, trouble makers.
DeleteIt's alright o! Igbos like money, now we also like revenge. No wahala, it's our blessing. Stop the hating.
DeleteI am shocked that this doctor is full of hate and at the same time,a big proponent of violence and ethnic strife.
ReplyDeleteIM shocked everyone is full of hate. So he made that statement On facebook, what has his license got to do with it??? Has he intentionally killed a patient??? Yes he was wrong, but many Of us have made worse comments behind closed doors including the igbos.
ReplyDeleteAm shocked at ur comment
DeleteMore shocked. Getting outa this loveless world.
DeleteThis man is a disgrace to the medical profession; a disgrace to Nigeria and his family.hes licence should be taken right away
ReplyDeleteAkiolu the first "offender" was not roasted why ariyo. I can assure nothing is likely to come out this. Free the man he simply shared his thoughts.
ReplyDeleteU will be shocked that sth will come out of it cos he's not living in a society where such comments will be embraced.nigeria is a lawless country not america. That petition will be his downfall I promise u.how can people make dangerous statements like that. Does it mean he will kill an igbo or any other tribe he detests?
DeleteShared his thoughts?? And that makes it right?? People like u are dangerous to condone such hate and call it merely sharing ones thoughts.oba akiolu, the zulu king should all appear human rights court.the zulu king had killed and hurt and displaced thousands of people with his dangerous comments.
DeleteI'm getting outa this loveless world..
DeleteAwwww don't sound like that. The world can make u loose faith in human beings but there are some good people sacrificing so much to help others in need and being a genuine human being with heart.
Delete@ogbonna. When are you leaving?
Delete@blunt ur so wicked. that's a hateful and insensitive thing to say to someone that may be suicidal.
Delete@ Ogbonna, I hope you are not taking life too seriously. Whatever your problem is,it will surely pass away. Just hang in there and trust God.
DeleteThe fact that he married a while woman shows his level of insecurity and tribalism. What a hateful man.he must be full of hate.
ReplyDelete*white*
DeleteSerious insecurity. He's on his own, even the yorubas will deny him.
DeleteInciting anyone to attack another person because of their beliefs, colour, race, tribe, tongue, etc is totally wrong and unacceptable. This man has clearly crossed the line. What he thinks in his head should not concern us,but we should be mindful when he shares his hateful thoughts with others on Facebook or the social media because many people look up to him. He needs to retract his words and apologize to the world, especially the Ibos.
ReplyDeleteNdi igbo afugo ife n'obodo a.
ReplyDeleteso only Igbo people were killed in SA - no other people. Dr. Adeniran A. Ariyo, i believe your certificates were bought, not based on intelligence. You must be human animal. You support killing and you claimed to be Doctor. Killing versus Doctor=Witch Doctor. Evil Animal Beast.
ReplyDeletewhether in jest or by mistake or misconstrued this cruel statement shouldnt even come out of the mouth of a human being only a beast and least of all a doctor.
