Raven-Symoné Apologizes for ‘Ghetto Names’ Comment

Former child star Raven-Symoné apologized for her latest statements mocking the black community.
“My comments about discrimination have spun out of control,” Raven-Symoné wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday. “I’d like to begin by saying that I was not attacking a specific race, but repeating a name that was said in a viral video which has received over two million likes.”

Raven-Symoné was referring to a segment on ABC’s The View in which she and her co-hosts commented on a viral social media video of the most “ghetto-sounding” names.

The video was a response to a study that shows Americans tend to discriminate against people with “ghetto-sounding” names.
“I am very discriminatory against words like the ones that they were saying in the video,” Raven said on The View. “I’??m not about to hire you if your name is Watermelondrea. It’??s just not going to happen. I?’m not going to hire you.”
Raven-Symoné is a 29-year-old mixed race conservative who thinks she endears herself to racist white people by putting down blacks.
The openly gay actress is a constant target of liberal social media users due to her insensitive statements about race.
Her apology came after her father and former manager, Christopher B. Pearman, said Raven sometimes says “dumb S#%T!” to get attention.
“Children grow up and become influenced by many things, situations and people,” he wrote on Facebook. “I certainly don’t agree with what she said….but she is damn near 30 years old. She’s a grown a** woman making grown a** mistakes. We all have been guilty of this.”
He added: “Raven is a really Beautiful, Sweethearted, Human Being. I should know. Her Mother and I Love her Very much and will always support her and have her back,” Pearman continued. “Even if sometimes………. she says some dumb S#%T!”
