On Thursday, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission grilled Ifeoma Nwobodo, the Chief of Staff to the former governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime, over allegations of corruption.
Ms. Nwobodo, arrived the commission’s headquarters in Abuja at about 9. 30 a.m. Thursday.
She was ushered into the anti-graft agency’s interrogation room where a team of crack investigators grilled her.
It was not clear Friday morning whether she was detained overnight or allowed to go home on administrative bail.
Allegations against Ms. Nwobodo include conspiracy, money laundering, misappropriation of public funds and abuse of office.
The source at the commission, who cannot be named as he is not authorised to speak on the matter said, “Her invitation is believed to be precursor to the interrogation of her former principal as the agency is said to be flooded with petitions indicting Chime of humongous graft during his eight-year rule of Enugu State as governor from 2007 to 2015.”
