Food for thought....The Nigerian police..

The Nigerian state has been very unfair to the police force, especially the rank and file. Their welfare is below the basic human standard, yet these fellows are provided with lethal weapons. To ameliorate this subhuman situation many of the hapless policemen resort to substance abuse. This therefore leaves all of us vulnerable to their unwarranted brutality which sometimes are fatal...a case of transferred aggression. I just heard that the police requested for N51 billion but a paltry N5 billion was approved!
Anyone reading this and who has access to the authorities should advise them to do the following, among others urgently:
1. Enhance the total welfare of the police
2. Carry out quarterly psychiatric evaluation of the personnel.
3. Change the recruitment policy to engage those who have passion for the job
4. Train them properly and make their training colleges be of international standards
5. Train some officers to specialize in criminal investigation to be knowledgeable in the use of modern sophisticated technology
We need a police force we can be proud of.
